Update–More Action Needed by Monday and Tuesday to Support the Minnesota Puppy/Kitten Mill Bill in the House and Senate

More action is needed. This bill will be heard in the Minnesota House Civil Justice Committee as H.F. 253 (the Tilberry bill) on Monday, March 23rd and in the Senate Agriculture Committee on Tuesday, March 24th as S.F. 7 (Senator Betzold’s bill), for more debate and a vote. Info for contacting the house was provided in a previous post (two posts ago). Info for contacting the senate is shown below.

Please note that these bills distinguish between hobby breeders and producers of large numbers of puppies and kittens. They focus on eliminating inhumane conditions. For more information, go to www.animalfolksmn.org.

Another Senate Hearing – More Calls Needed:

ACTION NEEDED – PLEASE CALL NOWANOTHER HEARINGThe Minnesota Puppy and Kitten Mill bill – S.F. 7 (Senator Betzold’s bill) – is going to be brought back to the Senate Agriculture Committee on Tuesday, March 24, for more debate and a vote. This is a second hearing for this committee and a final vote will be taken in this committee, so we are urging you to call all of the members on the committee once more.
ACTION: Please call before 3:00 p.m. Tuesday and ask them to vote in favor of S.F. 7 (Senator Betzold’s bill).
IMPORTANT – Ask them NOT to support an amendment that will require “registration only”. That will do little for the animals who are suffering every day at the hands of unscrupulous breeders.
Legislators are hearing from dog and cat breeders, hunting groups, the NRA, and others who oppose the bill (or any regulation) so they need to hear from us. Please know that your efforts are making an impact. Legislators are hearing you and we want to keep this voice loud, respectful and consistent.
Below is a list of the members and their phone numbers. Calls at this critical time are more effective than emails. Important – If you are a constituent of a committee member listed below, be sure he/she knows that.
