Bandit’s 5th Birthday

It’s getting late here, but I can’t go to bed without mentioning that it’s Bandit’s 5th birthday today. The only red ACD puppy for miles around, he found me just minutes after my old ACD-X Rusty died.

Bandit, aka Hillhaven Bolt Outof the Blue HSAs CD RA, is good at everything–obedience, Rally, agility, herding sheep, herding cattle, and tracking anything. Most of all, he loves playing with his jolly balls, carrying one while herding the other around the yard. When I sit at the computer for too long, he’s good at getting me out to play. If I don’t get up soon enough, he brings me the rubber chicken to throw over and over!

Bandit is a dominant dog who challenged me to become a better leader (read: If I don’t step up and take control, he will!). He has introduced me to many new activities and has taught me a lot.

Here’s a link to Sandy Allen’s photos of the cattle herding at the ACDCA Specialty in Pennsylvania in October, where Bandit earned his first PT leg on cattle. Bandit and I are on the first page:

I could go on and on all night about what a great dog Bandit is, but it’s already past our bedtime. He’ll be getting an extra hug and kiss tonight, and a prayer for many more happy years.
