More Action Needed for the Minnesota Puppy/Kitten Mill Bill

Update–MORE ACTION NEEDED–the bill has passed the MN House Civil Justice and Safety Committees, and will be heard by the MN Ag Committee on Friday, March 27th. As I mentioned before…The subject of the bill is now commercial breeders with “20 or more adult intact animals” and includes breeders who produce five or more litters per year. I don’t know why responsible breeders would have a problem with this bill.

CURRENT STATUS: One more hearing will be held this week in the House. See below.

House Agriculture, Rural Economics and Veterans Affairs Committee

H.F. 253 will be heard by the House Agriculture Committee, chaired by Mary Ellen Otremba, on Friday, March 27. As with the Senate Agriculture Committee, this is a critical meeting. The focus of the committee is animal health and well-being.

The bill has been tabled in the senate so far, but we have made some good progress in the House… and you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take (uh–talking about sports, not guns here!).
